Wellness Track

The Wellness Track is a comprehensive program that integrates evidence-based lifestyle medicine with humanistic and emotional development to support the holistic growth of future osteopathic physicians. It equips students with the tools to care for both their patients and themselves, emphasizing sustainable health practices such as nutrition, physical activity, and stress management. By combining personal exploration with practical clinical skills, the track prepares compassionate, whole-person-centered physicians who are well-positioned to thrive professionally and promote healing within their communities.

Wellness Track

The Wellness Longitudinal Track explores the arts as a tool for healing both for restoration of self-well-being, and as potential tools future practitioners can use to help their patients achieve better health by focusing on the whole person of body, soul, and spirit. Additionally, track participants will explore other topics in the medical humanities such as ethics, philosophy, religion/spirituality and history toward the goal of creating a more humanistic practitioner.

Year 1

The curriculum emphasizes the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine; nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep health, social relationships and avoidance of risky substances. Students explore the foundations of whole-person wellness through experiential and reflective activities that promote self-awareness, resilience, and compassionate care.

Year 2

Students build upon the lifestyle medicine and self-care concepts explored in the first year and learn how to apply to future patient care through exploratory sessions such as improv, motivational interviewing/health coaching, hands-on culinary lessons and shadowing of lifestyle medicine practitioners. Capstone projects that are a reflection of the culmination of what they learned in the track are also completed at the completion of the track.
